        Now giving time to myself
Sonakshi Sinha is looking fab and beautiful, thanks to those extra kilos that have been sweated out at the gym. TWF correspondent Sreya Basu chats up with the actress in Mumbai
You seem to have lost oodles of weight. How did it happen?
It was not an overnight process. I started working out in November-December last year. It is only now (in March) that you have started seeing the results. I just remained consistent with my work-outs. The appreciation I am getting today is no magic but the result of my absolute hard work.
This must have come as a surprise for all your fans as well as colleagues?
It was not that I was hiding myself for a surprise or something. I was going out, shooting and doing everything that I always do. But at the same time, this time, I was regular with my work-outs.
So you used to skip workouts before?
Earlier, I was working too much and had very little time for myself. Now I am making sure that I give more time to myself.
You seem to have developed an interest in art these days. True?
I do sketching. I like doing charcoal sketches. But I am not that much into painting. However, I hardly get time to practice.
Who inspired you to take up sketching?
It was Salman Khan (actor) who taught me the nuances of how to make charcoal paintings. He showed me a few tricks and tips.
What did your family have to say about this new interest of yours?
In fact my whole family likes paintings and sketches. In our hall there is a charcoal sketch of my father (actor Shatrughan Sinha) which was made by his cousin. It was from an old film of his where he donned an angry young man look. We all love that portrait. My mother (Poonam Sinha) likes collecting paintings of Lord Ganesha.
Tell us about your role in Holiday where you have again been paired with Akshay Kumar.
I play role of a boxer It was an interesting role. It was a role that was quite new for me. Also, I will be seen in western outfits in Holiday unlike my other films where I mostly donned Indian outfits.
The current trend in Bollywood is that of biopics. Do you want to try your hand at one too?
At the moment I don’t have any offers for a biopic. But if given a chance, I would love to play an actress like Madhubala or Meena Kumari or somebody who a very illustrious career.
With most of your films declared hits, you are considered lucky for filmmakers in terms of box office collections. What do you think about it?
I have been lucky that my films have done so well so far and have been able connect with the audience. May be, it is because when I pick a film, I ask myself if as an audience I would like to see myself in it. At the same time, nobody has told me that I cannot act. So I consider myself lucky as well as an actor.
Much is being said about your affair with actor Shahid Kapoor. How much truth is there?
There is nothing cooking … absolutely nothing.
