Cannes veteran Aishwarya Rai Bachchan stuns in white saree, flaunts sindoor at the red carpet
Bollywood diva Aishwarya Rai is back in the Cannes Film Festival, and how. The actress made a statement with her look this year at the prestigious red carpet as she opted for a saree look.
The diva looked stunning in a classic white handloom Banarasi saree with rubies around her neck. But what stood out was her sindoor (vermilion) look, more so in the wake of India's Operation Sindoor, a retaliatory strike at terror bases in Pakistan, and PoK in the wake of the Pahalgam terror attack.
Aishwarya walking the red carpet at the French Riviera with sindoor in her hair, played quite the cultural ambassador of India.
Many even think it was a move to shut down the divorce rumours with her husband, Abhishek Bachchan, that have been doing the rounds for quite some time.
Her much-anticipated Cannes look was put together by ace fashion designer Manish Malhotra.
The saree is a handwoven Kadwa Banarasi handloom paired with a handwoven tissue drape, and high jewellery from Manish Malhotra Jewellery.
The necklace featured over 500 carats of Mozambique rubies and uncut diamonds in 18k gold. Along with that was a statement ring.
Aishwarya, who is a regular at Cannes, brought back memories from her debut at Cannes. The actress wore a saree to the French Riviera in 2002, for Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Devdas at the film festival.
