Dress in summer cool cottons from Kamala, CCI's retail outlet in Kolkata
Kolkata, Apr 19 (IBNS): Kamala, the Kolkata-based retail outlet of Crafts Council of India, recently presented its new collection of textiles, to mark the Bengali New Year.
“Like every year, this time our collection is quite unique. We have tried to focus on the spring-summer collection and have weaves collected from renowned artists of India and specially from Bengal,” said Kasturi Gupta Menon, Honorary President, Crafts Council of India.
“The main attraction is handloom sarees from West Bengal, mainly from the Natun Phulia cluster. The Chanderi Cottons and hand-woven Ikats can be given special mention. Plus, this time we have dress materials for kurtis, salwar kameez and palazzos in Rajasthani prints - specially from Jaipur, Bagru, Sanganer,” she added.
Products on sale included an array of cool crisp cottons from the looms of the master weavers, such as: Tangails, jamdanis and matkas from Fulia (West Bengal); Maheswaris and printed Chanderis in gossamer fine weaves; Silk by cotton ikats, mangalgiris and telias from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh; Colourful Chettinads from Chennai, designer saris and kurti pieces from Debapriya; Printed silk saris from Shubho; Exquisite kantha silk and tussar saris from Burdwan and Birbhum; Shibori saris and kurti pieces from MURA; hand-block printed mulmuls and kotas from Sanganer and Bagru; Kalamkari dupattas, saris and blouses from Angikam and Dwarka; silver and eco-friendly jewellery; printed yardage, blouse pieces, bags, batuas and accessories and many more, sourced from all over India.
