Author interview: Shaheed Hasan talks about his Bengali book 'Love Made in Heaven'
Love is like oxygen that we cannot see but cannot live without too, says author Shaheed Hasan.
Congratulations on the release of 'Love Made in Heaven'. Do you have any other titles published in India?
No. Love, made in Heaven is the only one book published in India but I have a few books in my mind to be published in India.
Do the concept of love and loss stir the writer in you?
The concept of Love and Loss are the most important parts of my thinking. I love to love, I love the concept of love.I tried to create a tapestry more beautiful and bigger than life. I have a very different view about Love, especially the love which never materialized in real life as I believe readers can see themselves more in a tragic love story. The heartache, the restless feelings of a heart, the pain of not being able to be each other’s make us more human. Love could come from the unexpected source and take you a such a state of mind that you were not even known to your heart.
I think Love is not a thing of this earth. No one knows where love comes from. I think it comes from heaven and that is the reason enough to fall in love. In my opinion, Love is like Oxygen. We don’t see it but without it, we can’t even be alive. We can not live without love.
As I said, I love the concept of love and it controls all my thoughts and writings. Without Love, there would not be me. Period.
Is 'Love Made in Heaven' a modern tale or a classical interpretation?
It is a modern story of the ever classical interpretation of Love, probably the oldest subject of writing books.
You have several published works in Bangladesh. Where can one buy them from?
Two more books which published in the mid 80’s are totally lost as I have no copies of the books. But a reader can buy two more books from Chitra Prokashoni, Nilkhet, Dhaka.
As a writer, whose works do you follow?
I used to read Sunil Ganguli a lot and also Imdadul Haq Milon, Moinul Islam Saber, Syed Shamsul Haque and Mohadeb Shaha but I do not follow anyone.
