Book Review: Grandmas Closet is a children's fiction by nine year old Neyati Umamaheshwar
The fully colored, beautifully illustrated book 'Grandmas Closet' by nine-year old author Neyati Umamaheshwar is a funny yet engaging story involving primarily two characters, Emma and her grandmother.
Initially the plot would sound like a fairy tale; however, the ending is not like one and it has a significant and serious turn.
The setting of the story is Farmsville, a fictitious land which is supposedly guarded and preserved by the spirit of the queen of the land.
Whenever the people of the land are in danger and some crimes happen, this queen punishes them appropriately.
The story opens with Emma, one of the central characters, a beautiful eleven-year-old girl.
One day, Emma comes across a mysterious thing, which is her grandma’s closet and from here, the plot takes a turning into something great and serious.
Written in a simple language with pictorial illustrations, this book is appropriate for children.
The length of the book is very short; hence it can be completed within a short span of time, yet the impact would last for a long time.
The primary mystery of this book needs to be unravelled by the readers and then only they can get the essence of the surprise and the purpose behind it.
Characters have been carefully included so that it does not look too crowded and the main storyline can be properly highlighted.
'Grandma’s Closet' would be thoroughly enjoyed by the young readers, from where they can learn about many important things in life.
This sweet and engaging story would win the hearts of every reader.
