Book review: 'India My Country' talks about hard facts in a lucid manner
There are some books that would enlighten you and some that would educate you. India my country" by H.P Roychowdhury stands somewhere in the middle.
It is an extensive research on India.
The book addresses the evolution of religion and its effect on mankind, political turmoil, greed, violence, British rule, revolutionary period of Bose, rivalry between England and France, and brief history of Gandhiji’s teachings and their impact on people.
Once again, Power Publishers comes up with a new concept that would stand out in the crowd.
Author, H.P Roychowdhury is non- judgemental and unbiased but sensitive towards the subject. It is well – researched and well written.
History is not my strong point but this book’s eloquence captivated me. It is informative and it is written in such a way that it gives a feeling of a novel.
The book is filled with historical characters and proves that facts can be no less compelling than the most creative fantasy.
The book is divided into several parts, giving us a picture of the freedom struggle and how the entire nation fought against it.
The author makes it easy to read up such a difficult topic. Roychowdhury's writing style is robust and elegant. The reporting is thoughtful and penetrating.
This book is written in a very simple language and in a way that readers understand the sole aim or purpose of the book.
