103-year-old man casts his maiden vote in Bengal election
Cooch Behar, West Bengal, May 5 (IBNS) Frail and wobbling, but a visibly happy Asgar Ali cast his maiden vote in Cooch Behar, perhaps creating a record in the country, in the sixth and final phase of the West Bengal Assembly election on Thursday, reports said.
Ali, who had been an enclave dweller, cast his vote at a polling booth of Dinhata constituency under the district. He was accompanied by his son, grandson and other family members.
The veteran was brought in a special vehicle provided by the Election Commission.
Born in 1913, Ali has been a resident of three countries and a citizen of India now after the exchange of enclaves with Bangladesh.
