Air Force One: Enraged Trump urges govt to cancel Boeing orders
Washington, Dec 7 (IBNS): Donald Trump, the US President-elect who has made a name for himself 'firing contestants' from the TV show The Apperentice, looks like he's back with his favourite catchphrase 'you're fired'.
The latest to come under Trump's radar is aircraft giant Boeing, responsible for providing aircraft for the US President, the iconic Air Force One.
Known for his mercurial temper, the billionaire has urged his government to cancel all deals with Boeing following a hike in the cost of new planes.
"Boeing is building a brand new 747 Air Force One for future presidents, but costs are out of control, more than $4 billion. Cancel order!" he tweeted.
However, the White House said that Trumps's citation doesn't match their agreement with Boeing.
"Some of the statistics that have been cited, shall we say, don't appear to reflect the nature of the financial arrangement between Boeing and the Department of Defence," White House spokesman Josh Earnest said.
Meanwhile, following the President-elect's tweet, Boeing's shares plunged one per cent, but it recovered later in the evening.
