Amitabh Bachchan jibes at the UK after Rishi Sunak's elevation as PM
Acting legend Amitabh Bachchan joined the list of people who are showering their wishes on Indian-origin British MP Rishi Sunak, who Monday won the race to become the United Kingdom Prime Minister.
In an indirect reference to the long British rule in India which got its independence in 1947, Bachchan tweeted, "Bharat mata ki Jai. Now the UK finally has a new Viceroy as its Prime Minister from the Mother Country .."

Now the UK finally has a new Viceroy as its Prime Minister from the Mother Country .. 🇮🇳
Sunak, 42, won the race after former Prime Minister Boris Johnson backed himself out of the contest.
After Johnson had stepped down as the Prime Minister earlier this year, Sunak was one of the contenders to succeed him but he had lost to Liz Truss.
The opportunity to become the Prime Minister came for the second time after Truss resigned last week following her economic policies that sent a shockwave to the investors and led her to lose support of her colleagues.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also congratulated Sunak, who will take oath of office on Oct 28.
Modi tweeted Monday, "Warmest congratulations @RishiSunak ! As you become UK PM, I look forward to working closely together on global issues, and implementing Roadmap 2030.
"Special Diwali wishes to the 'living bridge' of UK Indians, as we transform our historic ties into a modern partnership."
