Assam: Floods affect over 80,000 lives

Guwahati, July 6 (IBNS): Heavy rains on Sunday have left over 80,000 people reeling under flood water in Assam, reports said.

Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) have stated that four districts- Lakhimpur, Dhemaji, Nagaon and Jorhat have taken the worst hit, as water levels are flowing above danger line.

ASDMA stated that the Brahmaputra river is flowing above the danger line at Nematighat in Jorhat and Tezpur in Sonitpur district, Northeast Today reported.

Jia Bharali river at NT Road crossing in Sonitpur and Dhansiri river at Numaligarh in Golaghat too are flowing above the danger mark. Six temporary bridges have been washed away in Jorhat.

Ferry services in Kamrup area have been detained, owing to the risk it possess.
