Authorities jam mobile, suspend Internet in Kashmir for I-Day security
Srinagar, Aug 15 (IBNS) Jammu and Kashmir authorities on Friday morning jammed mobile phone and internet services in the valley for a period for an incident free Independence Day celebrations.
However, internet services through land line telephone connections were functioning.
IBNS learnt from top security officials that recent attacks on security forces and joining of qualified youths into militancy ranks in current years made state home department more vigilant to thwart any activity from militants in the valley.
Sources further added that mobile and internet service remain affected in Kashmir zone only, while Jammu and its adjoining areas was not hit.

It is pertinent to mention here that Kashmir witnesses every year mobile and internet services jamming on Independence day and Republic
Day.
