Bihar politician's son who allegedly shot dead a youth still absconding
Gaya, May 9 (IBNS) The son of a Bihar legislator belonging to the ruling Janata Dal-United remained absconding two days after he had allegedly shot dead a 19-year-old boy for overtaking his SUV in Gaya.
Reports said the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party has called for a bandh in Gaya to protest against what the party calls is "police inaction" in the case.
The BJP has also demanded Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's resignation over "deteriorating law and order" in the state, though Deputy Chief Minister Tejaswi Yadav has said that no one will be spared.
According to a complaint lodged with the police, Rocky Yadav, who is the son of Legislative Council member Manorama Devi, was travelling in an MUV with his friends from Bodh Gaya to Gaya town on Saturday when the vehicle was overtaken by an SUV, driven by Aditya Kumar Sachdeva, 20.
Rocky's car then intercepted the SUV and he shot at Sachdeva apparently to teach him a lesson for overtaking his vehicle.
The security guard who was with Rocky in the SUV has been arrested. He reportedly told the police that the bullet was fired from the personal revolver of the politician's son, "accidentally".
Defending his son Rocky, Bindi Yadav said that his son shot the youth with his licensed revolver in self defence as he was under attack.
The victim's family is demanding justice and action against the killers.
Rocky's father and Manorama Devi's husband Bindeshwari Prasad Yadav , who was jailed in the past for carrying illegal weapons, has been arrested for helping his son run away.
