BJP trying to buy AAP lawmakers to form Govt: Kejriwal
New Delhi, Sept 8 (IBNS): Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal on Monday claimed that Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders were trying to buy the support of its legislators in an effort to form government in Delhi.
"Our operation to expose the BJP's horse-trading has been going on for over a month. We will submit raw footage to the Supreme Court on Tuesday," Kejriwal said.
A video tape also showed where BJP leaders, Sher Singh Dagar and Raghubir Dahiya, were urging AAP legislators Dinesh Mohaniya and Vivek Yadav to join their fold, reports said. The clip has been posted on the AAP website as well.
With 29 legislators, BJP is the single largest party in the Delhi Assembly but needs five more for a majority. The Delhi assembly elections that were held December last year threw up a fractured verdict with no party achieving the required majority to form the government.
Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which came second, had formed the government with support from the Congress but resigned on February 14after 49 days in power. The AAP government had stepped down after failing to push their pet anti-corruption Jan Lokpal Bill.
Sources said Delhi Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung had reportedly sought approval from President Pranab Mukherjee to welcome the single largest party. Accordingly the President was also believed to have forwarded the recommendation to the Union Home Ministry.
