A massive fire erupted in the B-1 air-conditioned coach of the Rajdhani Express near Vikramgarh Alot railway station in Rajasthan’s Kota division early Saturday morning.

Thick black smoke billowed from the coach as railway officials rushed to detach the affected compartment and cut off the overhead power supply to prevent the blaze from spreading.

68 passengers evacuated safely, extra coach to be added

All 68 passengers travelling in the coach were safely evacuated, with no injuries reported.

Railway authorities shifted passengers to other compartments and said an additional coach would be attached at Kota to restore the train’s full capacity before continuing its journey to Hazrat Nizamuddin railway station.

Second train fire in two days raises safety concerns

The incident comes a day after another fire scare involving the Hyderabad-Jaipur Special Train in Hyderabad, where flames broke out in an empty coach before departure.

While no injuries were reported in either case, the back-to-back incidents have intensified concerns over fire safety and maintenance standards on long-distance trains operated by Indian Railways.
