Bulandshahr gang-rape case: UP Govt suspends SSP, three nabbed

Meerut, Aug 1 (IBNS): A day after a woman and her daughter were gang-raped in UP's Bulandshahr district by 12-odd robbers, the state Government has suspended Senior Superintendent of Police Vaibhav Krishnan for negligence, reports said.

Six others were suspended along with the SSP, The Times of India reported.

Police have arrested three people, involved in the alleged crime.

Meerut DIG Laxman Singh was quoted as saying by TOI, "The arrested include Raees Ahmad, a resident of Sutari village very close to the scene of crime, Mohammed Shahvez of Hapur, and Jabar Singh, who lives on Delhi-Noida border. Police recovered Rs 5,500 cash and a gold chain from them."

The arrests were made after the victims identified three people from some odd 200 photographs.

A compensation package of Rs 50,000 has been announced by District Magistrate Anjaniya Singh for the two survivors.

The alleged incident took place on Friday night, while the family of six were on their way to attend a ritual, their car was waylaid and the robbers took them at gunpoint.

Later the two women were taken into a nearby field, where they were gang raped by the goons.
