"Challenge us and we will gauge out your eyes" : Mamata's nephew
Kolkata, June 23 (IBNS) West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's nephew and Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee has threatened to "gouge out the eyes" of anyone who dares to hurt Bengal's interests.
"Those who dare to glare at us, we can gouge their eyes out and throw them on the road. Show us your hands and we can cut them off," Abhishek Banerjee said while addressing a meeting in North 24 Parganas district.
"Remember, it is the common man who will have the last word," he added.
Several senior leaders of the party were on the dais when the 27-year-old TMC youth leader was speaking.
Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee gave Abhishek Banerjee prominence in the party in what is believed to be a move to curb organisational dependence on few senior leaders.
Abhishek Banerjee's virulence added to a series of embarrassing utterances by several TMC leaders in recent times that kicked up uproar across the state.
Last year, actor-turned-politician Tapas Pal, said at a public meeting: "If the CPM people touch a hair on the head of my workers, I will set my boys upon their women to rape them."
