Chances of finding more survivors in naval ship mishap grim: Dhowan
Visakhapatnam, Nov 10 (IBNS): Navy Chief Admiral RK Dhowan said that the chances of finding more survivors in the naval ship that sank off the coast of Visakhapatnam on Friday are grim, reports said.
Dhowan said an extensive search operation is underway to locate four Navy personnel who are still missing after the accident.
“We have already launched a full-scale Search and Rescue (SAR) operation and we will do whatever we can to trace the missing four naval personnel,” he said.
Dhowan also pointed out that a board of inquiry headed by a captain was in progress to investigate the circumstances that led to the mishap. According to reports, he reviewed the progress of the search and rescue operation in Visakhapatnam on Sunday.
A statement said the naval chief also met the family of sailor James Jacob who died in the accident as well as the family of another officer who is reported missing.
