New Delhi, Nov 22 (IBNS): Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday asked why Prime Minisiter Narendra Modi is not speaking on the issue of demonetisation in Parliament.

Rahul Gandhi outside the Parliament told reporters: "Why is the PM not speaking in parliament?" and "instead speaking on TV and pop concert?"

Modi earlier met his own BJP party MPs on Tuesday morning to discuss the situation arising out of the currency ban to curb black money flow in the economy.

BJP lawmakers supported Modi on this decision to demonetize 500 and 1,000-rupee notes.

Earlier, hitting out the BJP-led NDA government in Centre over demonetisation issue, West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo Mamata Banerjee on Monday announced to hold rallies in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Punjab against Narendra Modi's decision of scrapping 500/1000 rupees notes.

Mamata Banerjee demonstrated over demonetisation in the national capital with Arvind Kejriwal and complained to the President of India- Pranab Mukherjee- with Shiv Sena leadership.

Congress also slammed the BJP on the issue with its vice-president Rahul Gandhi saying that it would help the people close to Modi.
