F-16: Pakistan 'surprised' over India's disappointment
Islamabad, Feb 15 (IBNS): Pakistan has expressed 'surprise' over India's disappointment over the United States' decision to sell eight F-16 fighter jets to the Asian nation.
Pakistan's Foreign Office Spokesman Nafees Zakaria said in a statement: ""We are surprised and disappointed at the Indian Government's reaction. Their army and arsenal stock is much larger and they are the largest importer of defence equipment."
"As regards F-16 sale, Pakistan and the United States closely cooperate in countering terrorism. US spokesperson clearly announced that the sale is to enhance precision strike capability," Zakaria said.
India on Saturday expressed its displeasure over America's decision to sell eight F-16 fighter jets to Pakistan.
India said it disagrees with the rationale that such arm transfers help to combat terrorism.
"We are disappointed at the decision of the Obama Administration to notify the sale of F-16 aircrafts to Pakistan," MEA spokesperson Vikas Swarup had said in a statement.
"We disagree with their rationale that such arms transfer help to combat terrorism," he said.
