Files of Salman's hit-and-run-case destroyed in fire in 2012

Mumbai, May 28 (IBNS) All records pertaining to the Salman Khan hit-and-run case of 2002 were reportedly burnt in a fire at the Mantralaya in 2012, the Maharashtra home department has claimed.

Media reports said the information was revealed in a reply to an RTI application that enquired details of the case.

On the early morning of September 28, 2002, Salman's  Toyota Land Cruiser mounted a pavement and ploughed through few people who were sleeping there. The incident left one person killed and four injured.

On May 6 2015, the actor was convicted for 'culpable homicide not amounting to murder' and other charges and sentenced to five years imprisonment.

Salman appealed against the sessions court ruling in the Bombay High Court which suspended the sentence and released him on bail.
