Haryana Police recovers decomposed body of ex-model Divya Pahuja 12 days after murder
Gurugram: Police have found the remains of ex-model Divya Pahuja in a decomposed condition in a canal in Haryana, media reports said.
She was shot on January 1 at a Gurugram hotel, and her lifeless body was disposed of in the Bhakra canal in Punjab. Later, the body drifted to the adjoining state of Haryana, NDTV reported.
Police identified the body with the help of a tattoo, which matched an identical design in the same place the model sported in one of her earlier photographs.
We could identify the body with tattoos. There were two tattoos on the body found in the canal," Gurgaon police officer Mukesh Kumar was quoted as saying by NDTV.
The victim's family has been informed, and the body is set to undergo an autopsy and DNA testing for further confirmation, the report said.
Divya Pahuja was killed at a Gurgaon hotel on January 1, with CCTV footage capturing some people dragging her body from the hotel to a car.
The 27-year-old was brought to a hotel room by a group of five men.
According to the police, she was shot in the head as she was allegedly blackmailing the hotel owner with explicit pictures.
Sources claim that Pahuja had explicit videos of the hotel owner, Abhijeet Singh, on her phone. Singh reportedly requested her to delete the content, but she refused.
As a result, he and at least two accomplices killed Pahuja as she was allegedly blackmailing the hotel owner, using obscene material.
The Gurugram police have arrested another suspect for supplying the firearm allegedly used in the former model's killing.
Pravesh, identified as a gangster, facilitated the acquisition of the weapon for Abhijeet, the primary accused.
The police discovered illegal weapons in Pravesh's possession.
It's worth noting that Divya Pahuja had previously jailed for her alleged role in the fake encounter of her then-boyfriend, Gurugram gangster Sandeep Gadoli, in 2016. She had been granted bail in June of the previous year.
