ISIS claims responsibility for London attacks

London, June 5 (IBNS): The ISIS has claimed responsibility for the latest string of attacks in London that claimed seven lives on Saturday.

The SITE intelligence group website said: "The Islamic State’s (IS) ‘Amaq News Agency reported the June 3, 2017 vehicular and stabbing attacks in London, England were carried out by fighters of the Islamic State."

In a major development, police on Sunday said 12 people have been arrested in connection with the latest terror attacks which hit London.

"Officers from the Met's Counter Terrorism Command have this morning, Sunday 4 June, arrested 12 people in Barking, east London, in connection with last night's incidents in London Bridge and the Borough Market area. Searches of a number of addresses in Barking are continuing," read a statement issued by the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS).

The police said seven people have died, in addition to the three attackers shot dead by police.

A further 48 people were taken to hospital, some of whom are believed to be suffering serious and life threatening injuries, the police said.

"Among those injured in the attack are a British Transport Police officer and an off-duty Metropolitan Police officer. Both remain in hospital with serious injuries but neither are believed to be in a life-threatening condition," read the statement issued by the police.

Police asked people to share images or film of the incident.

"Anybody who has images or film of the incident are asked to pass those to police by uploading it at www.ukpoliceimageappeal.co.uk," the police said.
