Kolkata : Kolkata Police on Monday carried out a reconstruction of events at Dharmatala in connection with the alleged assault on police personnel and the harassment of journalists.

As part of the investigation, the accused, including Mohammad Afroz and others arrested in the case, were brought to the spot.

The accused were taken to the location barefoot and wearing shorts while investigators recreated the sequence of events.

The reconstruction was conducted in the presence of police officers as the probe into the incident continues.

The case stems from the violence that broke out during the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP)-led protests in Kolkata, where several journalists covering the demonstrations alleged they were assaulted, threatened and prevented from carrying out their professional duties.

Videos of the incidents circulated widely on social media, triggering condemnation from media bodies and political leaders.

Kolkata Police subsequently registered cases in connection with the alleged attacks on journalists and assault on police personnel.

Multiple accused have been arrested, while investigators have been examining CCTV footage, mobile phone videos and eyewitness accounts to identify others allegedly involved in the violence.
