Kashmir Valley observes Ashura peacefully

Srinagar, Nov 4 (IBNS): Amid tight security arrangements, processions of Ashura to observe Muharram were taken out across the State of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday, where thousands of Shia Muslims participated.

As a precautionary measures, the state  government continued with the ban on processions in Lal Chowk, a business hub of summer capital Srinagar.

 
According to reports, stringent security arrangements were made all across Kashmir in wake of Ashura processions in Kashmir. Strict restrictions were imposed in different parts of Srinagar to maintain peace.
 
In presence of heavy security personnel, Ashura processions were taken out in Alamgari Bazaar, Balhama, Baarji Harwan, Kral Mohalla Harwan, Gulshanbagh Lal Bazar,in Srinagar.
 
In north Kashmir's Baramulla district, processions were also taken were thousands of people participated.
 
In south Kashmir, similar processions were taken out at Wakharwan Awantipora and Panner area of Tral.
 
Anjuman-e-Sharie Shian Chief, Agha Syed Hassan Al Moosvi Al Safvi, took out the biggest Ashura procession from Imambara Budgam.
 
In Kargil, Ashura was observed under the banner of Anjuman-e-Jamiyat Ullama (Islamia School Kargil). 
 
Meanwhile, normal life was affected in the Srinagar city as most of the shops remained closed while transport was off the roads.
