Kolkata, Aug 19 (IBNS): Select participants from Kolkata-based Pavlov Institute (informally known as Pavolv hospital), which provides comprehensive psychiatry services, will soon receive specialized training from a leading chef to help them gain confidence and earn a living.

Sanchayita Bhattacharjee Alam, better known as Chef Sunshine, plans to conduct a basic bakery workshop in collaboration with Anjali Mental Health Rights Organization, at the Pavlov hospital.

In these workshops  the participants will learn to make cakes, biscuits  and cookies and will be offered adequate opportunities to hone their skills to make the products on a mass scale for commercial purpose in the future.

“Cooking and baking are wonderful therapeutic processes for people of all ages," said Chef Alam. "To me, the kitchen has always been my haven, whenever I needed to work out issues in my mind. The processes of cutting, chopping, kneading and working with flavors has always channeled my thought process and creativity. Baking has helped me reach out to people, bond with them and share with them.”

Ratnaboli Ray, Founder, Anjali Mental Health Rights Organization, said, "Baking to me is about creation, hope and new beginnings. I am looking at this experiment of baking with a group of residents  of Pavlov hospital as a metaphor for infinite possibilities."
