'Look inwards': India's sharp reply to Pakistan over Karachi terror allegations

The Indian government on Sunday strongly rejected Pakistan's allegations linking India to the recent terror attack in Karachi, describing the claims as "baseless."

In a strongly worded statement, Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said, "We categorically reject these baseless allegations."

He urged Pakistan to take decisive action against terrorist infrastructure operating within its own territory instead of blaming others.

"Instead of pointing fingers at others, Pakistan would do better to look inwards, take credible action against the terror infrastructure on its territory, and rid itself of its proclivity to rely on terrorism as an instrument of state policy," Jaiswal said.

What happened in Karachi?

At least four people, including three personnel of the Sindh Rangers, were killed and three others injured in a suspected suicide attack targeting the Sindh Rangers headquarters in Karachi on Saturday.

The assault triggered multiple explosions and a heavy exchange of gunfire, prompting a large-scale security operation in the area.

According to Pakistani media reports, the suspected suicide bomber detonated explosives near the Rangers compound, while other suspected militants opened fire on security personnel, leading to an intense gun battle that lasted for nearly 30 minutes.

Multiple explosions before gunfire

Sources cited by local media said a powerful initial explosion was followed by two smaller blasts before sustained gunfire erupted as security forces responded to the attack.

The incident took place in Karachi's Gulistan-i-Jauhar area, along a major thoroughfare connecting several universities and leading to the Pakistan Meteorological Department.

Authorities have launched an investigation into the attack, while no group has immediately claimed responsibility.
