Mamata not to attend PM Modi's meeting on land bill
Kolkata, Jul 11 (IBNS) West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will skip a meeting convened by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on land bill on July 15.
Media reports said Banerjee has conveyed this to the Narendra Modi government in a letter, saying her government would continue to oppose the Land Acquisition Bill "at all cost".
"Our views on land bill have been consistent and very much in public domain, and we are reiterating the same that we are opposed to the bill at all cost," the West Bengal government has reportedly told the Centre.
Banerjee had reiterated on Friday said that her party would not compromise on the issue of land bill.
"We will not compromise on the issue of land bill, forcible acquisition of land and granting of SEZ status. It was our electoral commitment. We cannot go back on it," she had told a news channel.
