Man stabbed at Toronto Eaton Center in broad daylight

Toronto, Sept 21 (IBNS): According to Police a man in his twentys has been admitted in the hospital following a stabbing incident at the Eaton Center mall in downtown Toronto.

A spokeswoman says police got the call at 2:19 pmTuesday regarding a stabbing inside the Eaton Centre.

Constable Jen Sidhu says, “The stabbing took place inside mall. The victim was stabbed multiple times.”

She further adds, “Officers responded to the scene and located a male suspect outside the mall.”  The suspect was arrested on Queen St. and a weapon was recovered from him.

The stabbing victim was soon transported to the hospital with serious but not life threatening injuries, said the police.

A similar incident happened in 2012, when a man gunned down two people in the Eaton Center food court.

Ahmed Hassan, 24, and Nixon Nirmalendran, 22, were killed in the gang-related shooting and five innocent bystanders, including a 13-year-old boy, were wounded.

Christopher Husbands was convicted in 2014 of two counts of second-degree murder, five counts of aggravated assault and several others offences.

Husbands, who was 25 at his sentencing in 2015, is currently serving a 30-year prison sentence.
