Nitin Nabin becomes BJPs youngest president ahead of key assembly polls, PM Modi calls him my boss
New Delhi : Former Bihar minister and five-time MLA Nitin Nabin formally took charge as Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president on Tuesday, a few months ahead of assembly elections in five states.
At 45, Nabin became the youngest leader to hold the post, following all internal election norms of the party. He was elected unopposed.
He succeeds Union Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda, who had assumed charge in 2020.
Representing the Bankipur constituency, Nabin was congratulated by senior BJP leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, during a grand ceremony at the party headquarters in New Delhi.
Addressing party workers, PM Modi said, “When it comes to party matters, I am a worker and Nitin Nabin-ji is my boss. Now Nitin Nabin-ji is the president of all of us, and his responsibility is not just to manage the BJP, but also to ensure coordination among all NDA allies.”
Modi described Nabin as a “millennial” who has witnessed widespread technological change. “He belongs to an era which, in childhood, heard the news on the radio and today is well versed in using AI. Nitin ji has both youthful energy and a great deal of experience,” the Prime Minister added.
Nabin expressed his gratitude to the party leadership for trusting him with the top post. “Our top leadership, which has contributed to the expansion of the BJP, has given an ordinary worker like me the opportunity to reach the highest position in the party, and for this, I bow to all of you,” he said.
Reflecting on the BJP’s growth, Nabin added, “If the BJP has become the world’s largest political party today, it is because of our inspiring leadership, our ideology, and the hard work of our workers.”
Nabin takes charge just months ahead of the assembly elections expected this summer in Assam, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Kerala, highlighting the importance of his leadership at a crucial electoral moment for the party.
