Mumbai, June 13 (IBNS) In what came as a shot in the arm of the makers of 'Udta Punjab,' the Bombay High Court on Monday observed that they dont find anything in script that questions the sovereignty or integrity of India, reports said.
In its on-point observation, the court said that the film only depicts menace of drugs in Punjab and the setting, pattern and the theme of it are the prerogative of the makers.
The HC also told the Central Board of Film Certification that there was no justification for asking deletion of signposts in the film as there is nothing objectionable in the script that tends to malign the state of Punjab.
“There is no mention of the word 'censor' in board. Board should use its powers as per Constitution and SC's directions.”
“Suggest cuts, don't censor. CBFC is not empowered to censor,” the court said.
The CBFC on Sunday, cleared the film with an 'A' certificate and 13 cuts.
The court will give its final verdict on the issue post lunch.
