Now, monthly report cards for BJP MPs
New Delhi, July 30 (IBNS): The Narendra Modi-led Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government is set to introduce a system of giving monthly report card to its members in the Parliament.
According to sources, the ruling formation decided to monitor the performance of its 320-odd members in both the Houses - Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha.
All the BJP members will be under scrutiny even when the Parliament will not be in session.
Their attendance in the Parliament, participation in meetings of various parliamentary committees and role in important debates will be recorded strictly.
This will help the party consider good performers for possible expansion of the cabinet in the days to come, sources said. The “non-performers” will get pointed reminders too.
After coming to power in May this year, Modi had issued a list of dos and don’ts to about 160 first-time MPs asking them to treat parliament proceedings like the “Bhagwad Gita” and nurturing their constituencies. He had also told the newly-elected lawmakers not to be complacent while sitting at the treasury bench.
