Pakistan's Islamabad city elects its first Mayor
Islamabad, Feb 16 (IBNS) Pakistan's Islamabad has elected its first Mayor, media reports said.
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) won the contest of being the Mayor of the city.
Bagging 49 votes, PML-N’s candidate Sheikh Ansar Aziz became the first Mayor of Islamabad.
He defeated Khurram Nawaz of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) who received 26 votes.
"Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) won the contest for the post of mayor, as the ruling party's candidate emerged victorious against the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) contender in Monday's election for the coveted slot, according to unofficial results," Geo News reported.
