PM Modi praises Mulayam Singh for effort break logjam in Parliament
New Delhi, Aug 11 (IBNS) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday praised Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Sngh Yadav for his "effort to break logjam", while taking a dig at those who are "misusing Parliament to stop the pace of country's growth."
Speaking at the BJP Parliamentary Party meeting the Prime Minister also praised parties helping to end the deadlock created in Parliament following the unrelenting opposition agitation led by the Congress demanding resignation of External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje and her Madhya Pradesh counterpart Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
The PM's statement comes ahead of the government move to introduce the crucial GST Bill in the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday.
Minister of State for Finance Jayant Sinha said : " The future of GST is bright and it is the right thing for India. We have done whatever is necessary. The Congress needs to wake up to the needs to the nation. We will be able to match the deadlines."
On Monday Mulayam Singh Yadav warned the Congress against continuing the agitation that prevented Parliament from transacting any single business for the past three weeks during the Monsoon session.
Yadav told the Congress that the party has to stop disrupting proceedings or else it will lose the support of the other parties.
Yadav had stood by the Congress after 25 of its Lok Sabha MPs were suspended by the Speaker for unruly behaviour.
Meanwhile, Trinamool Congress Rajya Sabha member Derek O'Brien said his party is "wholeheartedly supporting" the GST bill. "We want it to be passed. We are not in the business of appealing to any party. We can only talk about ourselves," he added.
