PM Modi visits Indian workers in Abu Dhabi
Abu Dhabi, Aug 17 (IBNS) Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited a labour camp in Abu Dhabi on Sunday to reach out to the migrant workers who have contributed to the development of the oil rich United Arab Emirates, reports said.
Modi arrived Abu Dhabi on Sunday on a two-day visit to the country.
Some 2.6 million Indians live and work in the UAE and about 60 per cent of them are blue-collar workers.
Modi chatted with the workers at an indoor basketball court and enquired about their welfare and jobs.
In November, India launched a campaign for higher wages for its workers in the Gulf states. Indian diplomats raised the minimum salaries they recommend because of higher living costs.
