PM Modi's Pakistani-origin sister to celebrate Rakshabandhan with him in Delhi
New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Pakistani-origin sister Qamar Mohsin Sheikh is all set to visit New Delhi to tie a ‘rakhi’ on his wrist and celebrate the festival together on August 30, media reports said.
Shaikh moved to Ahmedabad after her marriage and has been tying a rakhi on PM Modi for more than 30 years.
Qamar Mohsin Sheikh was unable to visit the PM, in the past two years, due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
However, she continued the tradition by sending him homemade 'rakhis' by post.
This year she hopes to celebrate the festival with PM Modi and plans to gifts him a book on agriculture, consider he is an avid reader.
"This time I have made the 'Rakhi' myself. I will also gift him (PM Modi) a book on agriculture as he is fond of reading. For the last 2-3 years, I was unable to go due to Covid, but this time I will meet him in person," she told news agency ANI.
''I pray for him every day for his good health and long life. I believe that all my wishes come true. Earlier when I prayed for him to be the Chief Minister of Gujarat and he became," she further said.
“Whenever I tied the Rakhi, I used to express my desire for him to become the Prime Minister. His response was always affirmative, saying that all your wishes will be fulfilled by God. He is doing commendable work for the country," she added.
Sheikh has earlier said that she had been tying rakhi to PM Modi since he was an RSS worker.
Raksha Bandhan is a festival dedicated to the bond of love and protection between brothers and sisters. On this day, sisters tie a decorative thread called a "rakhi" around their brothers' wrists as a symbol of their love, care, and prayers for their well-being. In return, brothers give gifts or promises to protect and support their sisters.
