Pnjab's Akali, BJP and Congress leaders arrested for drug related offences
Chandigarh, Jul 3(IBNS) In major crackdown on drug rackets in Punjab, leaders from the Congress, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the ruling Akali Dal, among others, have been arrested for drug-related offences.
Reports said on July 1, the police arrested three persons including general secretary of the Congress district unit with 1.2 kg of heroin. In another incident, Akali leader Mahal Singh Rana was arrested by Rajasthan Police with 7.5 kg of poppy husk on June 29. BJP leader Vijay Kumar Kamboj was also arrested by the Rajasthan Police for possessing and transporting 7.5 kg of poppy husk.
Punjab Revenue Minister Bikram Singh Majithia came under the Enforcement Directorate scanner after he was named by a drug kingpin arrested by the police.
