Poll victory firing by Samajwadi Party kills 8-year old in UP
Shamli, UP, Feb 8 (IBNS) Celebratory firing by the ruling Samajwadi Party in Uttar Pradesh claimed an eight year old's life in Shamli on Sunday, according to reports.
Samajwadi Party workers were celebrating a local election victory, when the mishap took place.
According to reports, police constables were also present during the half an hour celebratory firing.
Eight-year old Harsh was riding a rickshaw along with his mother when a stray bullet pierced his chest.
Upon arriving at the hospital he was declared dead and it triggered a row.
The deceased's parents and relatives took his body and sat on a protest, blocking a highway and retarding traffic flow in Western UP.
Taking a swipe at the SP for the incident, BJP leader Siddharth Nath Singh was quoted in the media as saying, "Samajawadi party is a party of goons. When you appoint goons, then it results in jungle raj. When they win they fire gun shots, and unfortunately, a child is killed. So, when the party full of goons are there, innocent will be killed"
