President Mukherjee greets citizens on Eid al-Fitr
New Delhi, July 7 (IBNS): As Muslims all over India gather together to celebrate Eid al-Fitr, President Pranab Mukherjee on Thursday greeted the nation on the auspicious occasion while urging them to dedicate themselves to the service of humanity.
"Greetings & best wishes to fellow citizens, particularly to Muslim brothers & sisters in India & abroad on Idu’l Fitr. Idu’l Fitr marks the culmination of the Holy Month of ‘Ramzan’, a month of prayer, blessings and forgiveness," he tweeted.
"May the Eid celebrations inspire each one of us to follow the path of love and universal brotherhood. May the Eid celebrations reinforce the nation’s commitment to mutual goodwill. Let us on this occasion rededicate ourselves to the service of humanity and share our happiness with the poor and needy," President Mukherjee added.
Greeting the nation on the occasion, Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted on Wednesday, "My greetings and best wishes on Eid-ul-Fitr. May this special day deepen the spirit of harmony and peace in society."
Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi said, "Eid Mubarak to everyone!On this auspicious day may the spirit of love&understanding fill our hearts &unite us in bonds of friendship&harmony."
