Prime Minister Narendra Modi turns 65

New Delhi, Sept 17 (IBNS): India's prime minister Narendra Modi turned 65 on Thursday amid wishes across the country and beyond.

Born in the year 1950, to parents Damodardas Mulchand and Heeraben Modi, Narendra Modi's initial schooling and higher education was completed at Vadnagar, Gujarat.

During his childhood days, he started attending the  Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh's (RSS) local shakhas and became an active member in the same eventually.

He joined the Bhartiya Janata Party(BJP) in 1985. After becoming one of the sought after politicians in the party, Narendra Modi replaced Kashubhai Patel as the face of BJP in 2001 Gujarat Legislative Assembly elections.

The infamous Gujarat riots of 2002 left a question mark in his secular credentials but even after that, Modi served three consecutive terms as the CM of Gujarat.

The 2014 General Elections saw the BJP contemplating to put Modi as a candidate for the position of the Prime Minister of the nation.

After the National Democratic Alliance led by BJP defeated the Indian National Congress by a humongous margin, Narendra Modi became the 15th Prime Minister of India.

Modi's foreign and development policies soon became the highlights of his governance as the PM.

It was only during the the 2014 elections, that the world got to know about Narendra Modi's marraige to Jashodaben Narendrabhai Modi.

He is internationally recognized as a dynamic leader is among the top 20 powerful persona of the world named by the Forbes magazine.

Many political honchos took to the social media platforms to shower their best wishes to Modi on his birthday.

Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh tweeted, "Greetings to the Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi on his birthday today. May God bless him with good health and long life."

Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley tweeted, "My best wishes to Hon'ble PM @narendramodi ji on his birthday today. May God bless him with good health & success in all his endeavours."

Former CM of Jammu and Kashmir Omar Abdullah tweeted, "Happy birthday @narendramodi ji. May God grant you a long life in the service of the nation. #HappyBdayPM."

While the social media is buzzing with wishes for the Prime Minister, he tweeted via his Twitter account @narendramodi, "Ganapati Bappa Morya! Greetings on Ganesh Chaturthi. May Lord Ganesha bless us with abundant happiness & prosperity."
