Puducherry cabinet skips Governor Kiran Bedi's Yoga session
Puducherry, June 21 (IBNS) In what came as a message of differences between the government and the constitutional head of the union territory, Puducherry Chief Minister V Narayanswamy and his cabinet skipped on Tuesday a yoga session led by Lieutenant Governor Kiran Bedi.
Reports said the ministers chose to attend a different function which led to the speculations over hostility between the Congress Government and the BJP-appointed Lieutenant Governor.
Bedi, however, sought to downplay it as she told NDTV: "There should be no politics on yoga day. I am performing my duty earnestly. I'm working the way it ought to be done."
The Congress returned to power Puducherry after five years in last month's assembly elections.
Days after the election results, Kiran Bedi, who was the BJP's chief ministerial candidate for the 2015 Delhi election, was appointed Puducherry's Lieutenant Governor.
Narayanasamy, when asked about any disagreement with the governor, had earlier said there would be "no friction" as both are working for a prosperous Puducherry.
