Rajasthan assembly approves bill against camel slaughter
Jaipur, Mar 28(IBNS) The Rajasthan assembly has passed a bill prohibiting camel slaughter in the state Rajasthan Legislative Assembly today passed by a voice vote a bill to stop camel slaughter in the state.
The Rajasthan Camel (Prohibition of Slaughter and Regulation of Temporary Migration or Export) Bill, 2015 was passed by a voice vote to stop large scale killing and transportation of camels to other states for the purpose of slaughter.
Animal Husbandry Minister P L Saini said several cases of intentional killings of camel and its progeny have come to light and the existing law was not enough to tackle the problem.
Under the new law, whoever contravenes or attempts to contravene it shall be punished with a rigorous imprisonment for a term between one and five years with a fine which may extend to Rs 20,000.
