Mumbai, Aug 26 (IBNS) Actor Sanjay Dutt has been granted a 30-day parole by the Maharashtra administration because his daughter is going through a nose surgery, reports said.

The Bollywood star  had applied for the parole in June citing the reason of the ill-health of his daughter.

The last time Dutt  was given leave from jail was in December 2014. An extension he applied for then was rejected.

Between May 2013 and 2014, he  spent about 118 days out of prison that gave rise to a debate in media over allegation that he is getting a special treatment.

The parole application was sanctioned by Pune divisional commissioner two days ago. The actor is expected to be home in next couple of days after completion of the formalities including surety

Dutt, 56, was found guilty in 2013 of acquiring illegal weapons from those involved in the deadly 1993 attacks in Mumbai in which 257 people were killed, and hundreds injured.

He was sentenced to six years in jail in 2007; he served 18 months but then was out on bail, fighting the conviction until a court in March 2013 ordered him back to jail in Pune.
