Separatist Kashmiri leader Shabir Shah detained at Delhi airport

New Delhi, Aug 22 (IBNS) Separatist Kashmiri leader Shabir Shah was detained at Delhi airport on Saturday as he arrived the national capital a day ahead of the NSA-level talks between India and Pakistan, report said.

Shah is among the Hurriyat hardliners who have been  invited for talks by Pakistan before Sunday's scheduled dialogue between India's National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and his Pakistani counterpart Sartaz Aziz.

Objecting to the separatists being invited India says says Pakistan has sprung a surprise by invoking  last-minute conditions which are not part of the agenda Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Pakistani counterpart Nawaz Sharif agreed upon in Russia's Ufa last month .

India says separatists are an unacceptable "third party," while Pakistan has refused to call off the invite  while insisting that it is India which wants to go back on a decision for a comprehensive dialogue mutually agreed upon between the two Prime Ministers.

This has led to a mounting tension between the two countries making uncertain the fate of Sunday's NSA-level talks.

On Thursday morning, three Kashmiri separatists were placed under house arrest in Srinagar but were released within two hours.

External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj has called a press conference in the national capital at 4 pm on Saturday.

A day before his  departure for Delhi for Sunday's schedule talks, Pakistan National Security Advisor Sartaz Aziz has also  called a media meet in Islamabad at 1 pm (local time).
