Seven people, including five of a family killed in Assam landslides
Guwahati, May 18 (IBNS) At least seven people, including five of a family died in three landslide incidents following incessant rains in Assam on Tuesday night, officials said on Wednesday.
According to the reports, five people of a family including three children, died in a landslide at Rakhaldubi in Hailakandi district of Barak Valley.
"The landslide incidents in the district occurred following incessant rains. The family members of Nitai Das were trapped by mud and all persons died on spot, " a police official said.
Police and rescue teams recovered the bodies on Wednesday morning.
In a separate incident, a 9-year old girl was killed at Mahur area in Dima Hasao district.
In yet another incident of landslide, an 8-year old boy died and four others were injured in Karimganj district on Tuesday night.
