Sheena Bora murder : Mother Indrani made a recce before crime
Mumbai, Aug 28 (IBNS) The day before the murder of Sheena Bora, her mother Indrani Mukherjea along with two accomplices allegedly did a recce of the place where they would dump the body, media reports quoted the police as saying as details of the chilling crime started emerging.
Sheena was killed on April 24, 2012 allegedly by a trio comprising her mother Indrani, her step-father Sanjeev Khanna and driver Shyam Rai inside a moving car.
Her face was smashed and her body was stuffed in a suitcase and burnt in the forests in Raigad, 84 km from Mumbai, the police say.
Rai, the driver whose confession led to the arrest of Indrani Mukerjea, a prominent media executive married to TV baron Peter Mukerjea, has reportedly disclosed during interrogation how the alleged killers tried to cover up the crime.
The driver may turn approver, which means he will give evidence against the other two accused.
The driver has allegedly told the police that Sanjeev Khanna strangled Sheena, who had been sedated after she was allegedly forced into the car by her mother.
After smashing Sheena's face and burning the body in a suitcase to prevent identification, the alleged killers dumped it down a slope.
The decomposing remains were found a month later by villagers. At the time, the police dismissed it as an unclaimed body.
Sheena Bora was Indrani Mukerjea's daughter by an earlier relationship and was dating Peter Mukerjea's son Rahul, her step-brother.
For about a year Indrani used Sheena's phone to impersonate her by sending texts and emails to give an impression to others that she had gone to the US for studies. She also forged documents.
Indrani used to present Sheena as her daughter-the deepest mystery in the whole sordid tale- till the final revelation came about their true relationship.
