Sonia Gandhi's residence bigger than PM Modi's
New Delhi, Dec 31 (IBNS) Congress president Sonia Gandhi's official residence at 10, Janpath, is bigger than 7, Race Course Road, the residence of the Prime Minister of India, information given in response to an RTI application has revealed.
According to the RTI reply, 10, Janpath, is spread over 15,181 square metre whereas the PM's residence is built up in an area of 14,101 square metre.
It also mentioned that President Pranab Mukherjee and Vice-President Hamid Ansari are the only two personalities having official residences bigger than that of the Congress president.
While the Rashtrapati Bhavan is spread over an area of 320 acres, the VP's residence at 6, Maulana Azad Road, sprawls over 26,333.49 square metre.
The residence of Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi at 12, Tughlak Lane, is spread over 5,022.58 square metre, the reply says, adding that his sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, who is not a Member of Parliament, has been allotted a bungalow at 35, Lodhi Estate, which is spread over an area of 2,765.18 square metre.
RTI activist from Shimla Dev Ashish Bhattacharya, who had filed an application, , said that the Himachal Pradesh government had denied a plea which sought the details of properties belonging to Priyanka.
