Kolkata: Kolkata-based Bengal School of Business Studies (BIBS), a top rung management institute, is determined to raise the employability of young people from the eastern region of India.

And that it is not a tall claim has been proved over the past few years with BIBS ranking second Best B-School in Eastern India in The Times of India B-school Survey for two consecutive years (2018 and 2019) and receiving the Best Education Brand Award from The Economic Times.

BIBS has been imparting management education for over 11 years and is known to provide excellent placement opportunities for its students.

The placement graph for BIBS is also on the rise.

FMCG companies such as Nestle, Adani Wilmar, Dabur, Coca Cola and Mondelez have already hired 28 students from the 2017-19 batch compared to eight from the 2016-18 batch.

Banking companies such as ICICI, Kotak, Yes Bank have nearly doubled their hire from 16 chosen from 2016-18 batch to 30 from the 2017- 19 batch.

According to several companies who have hired students from BIBS, a major factor that appears to have played a crucial role in achieving these results has been the innovative design and implementation of the course work by the institute.

Their management courses are industry driven, they said.

Over the tenure of their course, students have multiple interactions with the professionals from various industries to help them gather a clear understanding of the needs and changing trends of the market.

According to Vidur Kapoor, Chairman, BIBS Kolkata, “The institution has an Industry Internship, which is central to its post graduate program and provides hands-on experience and exposure to students on the operational aspects of business.”

Kapoor elaborated some of the key components of BIBS.

He said, “The institute holds the Management Guest Inspired Series or MGIS, where noted personalities from business and professional communities interact with students to share management views and insights, which are essential for grooming of the B-School’s prospective managers.”

“The college organizes ‘Corporate Sessions’ with senior managerial professionals from various industries to provide awareness to students about the changing trends in business. This holistic education process has been the key contributor towards making the BIBS’ students ‘market ready’,” he said.
