Suspected militants kills village council head in J&K
Srinagar, Dec 1 (IBNS): A group of suspected militants attacked a village council head in Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday night, media reports said.
According to sources, the militants stopped the car of Mohammad Sultan Bhat near his residence and opened fire at him from close range. The incident took place at around 9.30 pm.
Bhat was immediately taken to hospital where he succumbed to bullet injuries.
“Tomorrow my party will formally request the ECI to review security in this area. We are concerned about gaps in the security grid. The EC code forbids me from any engagement with the security forces so the EC is now responsible for plugging any loopholes (sic),” Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah tweeted.
The killing of Bhat came a day after a grenade attack in Srinagar that injured eight people.
