Third Test: Ashwin, Jadeja maul South Africa, hand an unwanted record
Nagpur, Nov 26 (IBNS) South Africa was handed an unwanted record by the Indian spin trio of Amit Mishra, Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin, who bowled out the visitors for 79 runs in their first innings, here on Thursday.
With their total score, the South African team now lists third in the overall lowest score in a Test innings in India. India now lead by 141 runs.
Resuming play with their over night score of 11 runs for the loss of 2 wickets, South Africa lost wickets at regular intervals to slump at 12 runs for the loss of 5 wickets.
Only three batsmen reached the 2-figure mark, with JP Duminy (35) leading the charts. After picking up 4 wickets in the first innings, Simon Harmer contributed 13 runs with the bat. Faf du Plessis scored 10 runs.
The in-form AB de Villiers was sent back for naught by Jadeja, who picked up 4 wickets.
Ravichandran Ashwin finished with a five-for, as he gave away 32 runs in his 16 overs.
Mishra accounted for JP Duminy, as he was trapped in front by the leg spinner, unable to gauge the flight of the ball.
In their second innings, India have scored 5 runs for the loss of no wickets.
