Three KPLT militants killed in faction clash in Karbi Anglong
Guwahati, Dec 7 (IBNS) : At least three militants of Karbi People's Liberation Tiger (KPLT) were killed in a clash between two factions within the outfit, in Assam's Karbi Anglong district on Wednesday morning, police said.
The incident took place at Samelangso area under Dokmoka police station in the hill district.
"The firing incident happened between the pro-ceasefire group of KPLT and the anti-talk faction," a senior police official said.
A top militant of the anti-talk faction, identified as Chandra Rongpi, and his two associates, were killed in the firing.
A faction of the KPLT had declared unilateral ceasefire last month, while another group, led by Chndra Rongpi, had opposed the ceasefire and continued their activities in the hill district.
Top police and army officials have rushed to the remote area.
